Operate automated refuse or manual recycling collection vehicles.
Operate balers to compress recyclable materials into bundles or bales.
Operate processing equipment, such as fiber-sorters and grinders, to sort, crush, or grind recyclable materials.
Operate shredders to reclaim steel from discarded appliances.

Collection & Sorting: Collect electronic waste (e-waste) from designated drop-off locations or receive shipments from clients. Sort items according to type, material, and recyclability to streamline processing and ensure compliance with recycling regulations.

Inspect incoming electronic devices to assess recyclability and identify hazardous components.
Separate electronics by category: computers, monitors, printers, small appliances, batteries, and peripherals.
Record quantities and types of collected e-waste for inventory and reporting purposes.
Communicate with clients or team members regarding acceptable items and collection schedules.

Disassembly & Component Extraction: Safely dismantle electronic devices to recover reusable components and separate hazardous materials. Follow safety protocols to prevent injury and environmental contamination.

Use hand tools or machinery to carefully disassemble electronics.
Remove batteries, circuit boards, hard drives, and other recoverable components.
Identify and segregate hazardous materials such as mercury, lead, or cadmium for special handling.
Label and store components for further processing, resale, or proper disposal.
Document extracted components for inventory and reporting purposes.

Recycling & Disposal: Process materials for recycling according to industry standards and environmental regulations. Ensure safe disposal of non-recyclable or hazardous materials.

Sort metals, plastics, and glass for recycling streams.
Prepare hazardous materials for certified disposal in compliance with EPA or local regulations.
Operate shredding or crushing equipment to reduce size of recyclable items.
Coordinate with certified recycling facilities for material pickup or drop-off.
Maintain logs of recycled and disposed items for audits and compliance reporting.

Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols to protect self, colleagues, and the environment. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding electronic waste.

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, goggles, and masks.
Handle hazardous components with care to prevent spills, leaks, or contamination.
Participate in safety training and emergency drills.
Document compliance and report any incidents or violations promptly.

Customer & Community Engagement: Support e-waste collection initiatives and educate clients or community members about recycling programs.
