JOB FUNCTION 1: Inspect materials, die components, features, and details.

A. Measure size of raw materials
B. Checks surface finish for defects and flaws
C. Identifies material by type
D. Verifies calibration of measurement devices
E. Converts measurements
F. Locates center lines, checks fit and form using gauging, and measures threads

JOB FUNCTION 2: Plans job and sets up workstation

A. Reviews and verifies prints and drawings
B. Prioritizes and schedules workflow/progression
C. Determines grinding and heat-treating allowances
D. Sketches/highlights critical processing information and specs
E. Determines machining requirements and processes
F. Verifies/assesses shut height specifications, tonnage requirements, and feedline
G. Checks safety devices for function
H. Assess part and scrap-ejection methods

JOB FUNCTION 3: Sets up equipment and machine components and details

A. Moves and stages material and parts for machining (CNC/non-CNC) and polishes parts B. Inspects machined work pieces for quality and compliance and removes burr from machined parts

JOB FUNCTION 4: Assembles tools and die

A. Mounts and checks details for fit and function, lifters, ejectors, and other components
B. Install and fit all mold components
C. Establishes and sets lifter timing and other sliding components
D. Installs and sets quick die-change components, scrap removal, and part-ejection devices
E. Installs quality control (QC) sensors and electronics die-protection sensors and devices
F. Installs/makes guide components and check for sharp edges on parting lines
G. Verifies presence of or install pressure pads

JOB FUNCTION 5: Conducts tryouts and develops tools and die

A. Sets up and conducts press for dry run and /or tryouts
B. Develops blank/trim profiles
C. Checks/adjusts shut height and set blocks
D. Analyzes, solves, and corrects formability problems and runs at proper rate
E. Inspects and submits tryout parts for quality and conformance

JOB FUNCTION 6: Troubleshoots tool and die problems

A. Understand mold functions B. Verify mold heating C. Check and repair parting lines D. Identify and repair water leaks E. Troubleshoot mold Valve Gate system F. Repair mold hydraulics and part ejection

JOB FUNCTION 7: Manages and coordinates projects

A. Reliably follows the instructions of others
B. Willingly asks questions about things not fully understood
C. Works with due regard for the safety of others
D. Establishes a system of maintaining appropriate notes and reminders and completes any required logs, calibration records, etc.
E. Ensures proper communications between previous and next shifts, with both operations and supervision

G. Establishes trust and rapport with operators, supervisors, and others

JOB FUNCTION 8: Machining and welding operations

A. Performs hand finishing of components
B. Performs gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) fabrication

D. Performs manual machining operations to fabricate components
E. Program and operate CNC mills to cut/remove metal material according to specification
