Assist a preschool, elementary, middle, or secondary school teacher
Serve in a position for which a teacher has primary responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.
- Supervise school or student activities.
- Provide age appropriate supervision in all situations within the center.
- Understand and follow rules and guidelines set by center policies.
- Familiarize yourself with classroom and center-wide policies and procedures.
- Teach daily living skills and age appropriate behaviors.
- Foster age appropriate expectations for skills and behaviors.
- Develop positive rapport with students, peers and families.
- Collaborate with other teaching professionals to develop lesson plans.
- Lead classes under the supervision of the Lead Teacher.
- Discuss student progress with parents or guardians.
- Participate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students' progress or problems.
- Observe students and their performance.
- Maintain clean and safe environments.
- Plan developmentally appropriate activities.
- Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
- Attend staff meetings, family orientation, and any other center-wide activities.
- Set up classroom materials or equipment.
- Foster engagement with children in a proactive manner.
- Redirect children's behavior with supervision of the Lead Teacher.
- Promote language development by reading aloud and modeling appropriate language usage.
- Seek guidance when faced with challenging behaviors.
