Plan production or event procedures or sequences

Demonstrate a working understanding of how to design layouts of audio and video equipment and perform upgrades and maintenance
Demonstrate a working understanding of how to locate and secure settings, equipment, effects, and other production necessities
Demonstrate a working understanding of how to plan the technical advance of live events.

Read audio/video plans or other instructions to determine event specifications or equipment requirements.

Demonstrate a working understanding of how to determine formats, approaches, content, levels, and mediums to effectively execute an event

Assemble electrical or performance equipment.

Demonstrate ability to assist with constructing and positioning properties, sets, lighting equipment, and other equipment
Assist with the technical advance of events

Maintain production or event equipment.

Notify supervisors when major equipment repairs are needed.
Demonstrate ability to diagnose and resolve media system problems.
Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of audio and video equipment

Maintain inventories of audio and videotapes and related supplies

Demonstrate a working understanding of how to organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty information related to audio and video equipment

Record and assess event or production data

Demonstrate ability to compress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio and video data
Collaborate with other workers to use equipment or perform technical procedures
Demonstrate a working understanding of how to direct and coordinate activities of crew and other personnel during production
Demonstrate a working understanding of how to conduct training sessions on selection, use, and design of audio-visual materials and on operation of presentation equipment
Participate in meetings with directors to discuss assignments and determine filming sequences and camera movements

Operate event equipment or software

Install, adjust, and operate electronic equipment to record, edit, and/or transmit live events, televised events, video conferencing, or multimedia presentations
Control the lights and sound of events, such as live concerts, before and after performances, and during intermissions
Switch sources of video input from one camera or studio to another, from film to live programming, or from network to local programming
Monitor incoming and outgoing video and sound feeds to ensure quality and notify directors of any possible problems
Demonstrate a working understanding of how to mix and regulate sound inputs and feeds or coordinate audio feeds with video
Edit videos by removing portions of programs and adding video or sound as required
